Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving!,

.......

We are leaving Thanksgiving morning and driving the 8 hours to Pueblo Colorado where my Mom, Brother, Grandpa, my other Grandma and lots of family live and where I was born.

.......

My Mom has MS and we are going out to dinner this year because it is to hard on her to make a Thanksgiving Meal, so I figured since we are going out it made the most sense to drive on Thursday and go out on Friday instead of going out to dinner on Thanksgiving. We will get there Thursday afternoon, be there Friday and Saturday and then come home some time on Sunday. This time we are staying in a Hotel it is supposed to be a suite so we will see how that goes with 3 small children 6 and under!

.......

Blog Candy

Hello Everyone,
.......
I hate to say this I really do, but due to unforeseen family and traveling circumstances I will be unable to Draw the Blog Candy tonight! I planned to work on it today, but things came up and I just did not have the time to do it! I hope you all can understand with the Thanksgiving Holiday and all! We will be leaving tomorrow morning very early to go to Colorado and I will work on the drawing and draw the names when we get back on Monday.
.......
The good news is that gives all of you 4 more days to play in the Challenge, leave comments or link to the Blog Candy Post and let me know and your name will go into the drawing that many more times!
.......
Since there were several ways to earn entries into the drawing I have to finish sorting thru all the comments, links, challenge card completions ect.... to figure out how many times each person gets their name in the drawing, and I just could not get that done today! I had great intentions from the beginning to keep track each day and it got away from me so I still have some work to do on that. I will get it all done when we get back and it will be a after Thanksgiving Mega Blog Candy Drawing!
.......
Thank You so much for all your visits, sweet comments, words of encouragement, and friendship, it all means the world to me!
........
I do have some scheduled posts over the weekend so I hope you enjoy them too, and thank you for understanding!
.......
Have a Stampendous Thanksgiving Weekend!!!!
.......

Hi All,
Stampin Up released a Huge Holiday Extravaganza Sale today. We knew it was coming but not what was on sale.
.......
You can go directly to my Demonstrator Web site accessible off to the right of this blog to place your order!!!!
Unfortunately SU for some reason is having problems with having the correct prices on the different places you can order them ie customer web site, and Demonstrater Web sites. So I am posting my Flyer here so you can see the correct prices and then when you go to order them even if it says a different price you will know the real price. I called SU to tell them this morning and they said they were aware of the problem and were in the process of fixing it, but that the prices on the flyer were correct. You should be able to click on the flyer here and see it larger. I am adding it in Black and White, and Color I am not sure which one will show up better.

Challenge Post the 4th Picture in the 4th Folder on my Computer

Wow Ladies,
I am on a roll today after so many days of not being able to post I am hitting the creative side hard today! This is like my 3rd post in 12 hours! Well I know I will not be able to post anything for the 4 days we are in Colorado so this is sort of to off set that? Smiles!! I wanted to play in Jami's Challenge from yesterday. You are supposed to post the 4th Picture in the 4th folder on your computer so hold on a second and I will go add that onto this post! :-)
.......
Oh my Gosh I can not just post the 4th picture!!!! These pictures are of Tucker's First Hair Cut this summer in August!!!! I have to post the story!
.......
We had my good friend Stacy and her Mom over to do his Hair Cut. Stacy's Mom is a hair dresser with her own salon and she has done both of the girls first hair cuts too.
......
Tucker has so much hair and it grows so fast. Though all of my kids have that light blond hair he is the only one that was born with it!!!! All 3 were born with massive amounts of hair, but Pipers was dark brown with blond highlights on the very ends. It looked like we had frosted her tips!!!! Her hair stuck straight up so you could see all this dark brown hair that had these white tips on it. Her hair changed every month it was hilarious. As you look back thru her scrap book you see Dark Brown to Light brown, to red, to Dark Blond to light blond, to the more light blond with Strawberry tints thru it she has today. Every month her hair was a different color!!!
......
Willow was born with medium blond to light brown hair, and it stayed that way until she was almost 2 then it turned the white blond she is today. I imagine she will be dark headed one day as she has dark dark brown eyes, and dark eyelashes and eye brows!
.......
So here are the pictures of Tucker before during and after his first hair cut!!!! I cried I missed his hair when it was gone!!!!
.......

Sweet Tucker Boy before his long blond locks were cut later that day.

O.K. Well I guess his hair was kind of getting out of control long here! :-)

Unsure of this Hair Cutting Business!

By this point he was totally out of control!!! It was taking 3 of us Marvin, Stacy, and Me to hold him still here! Ha Ha Then I remembered I had some Dum Dum Lolli Pops and he calmed down after I gave him one of those!

My Baby boy with a lot less Hair on his head!

.......

Well that is all for this post I hope you enjoy the pictures! Thanks Jami for the challenge!

A Very Meowy Christmas

A Very Meowy Pink Cat Christmas Card!
Hello,
.......
I finished my Pink Cat Studio Kitty Christmas Card today. I am adding it to the Paper Craft Planet Pink Cat Studio Challenge because it met the requirements. 3 of something (3 different reds, Ruby Red, Real Red, and Riding Hood Red), 2 Backgrounds The cuttled Birds and Swirls background, and the Red Panel with Vanilla scalloped edges) 1 Ribbon that yummy Peppermint ribbon from SU!.
........
Here is the Kitty Card. The cuttled embossed Riding Hood Red Piece is mounted on the Very Vanilla Card Back. I put the Christmas Kitty on top of the puffed up and bunched together with silver twine Peppermint Ribbon with glue dots.
.......
I added glitter inside all of the Santa Tassels and the fur parts of the Kitty's Santa Hat. I also added white glitter onto each of the tassels and fur parts of the Sentiment.
.......
Recipe:
.......
Stamps: Pink Cat Studio Kitty Stamps I picked the Christmas Kitty stamp.
Inks: Markers in Basic Black, Ruby Red, Old Olive, Regal Rose, Real Red, and Black Staz On Pad.
Papers: SU Card stock in Very Vanilla, and Riding Hood Red the sentiment is on Whisper White
Accessories: Big Shot and cuttle bug embossing folder Birds and Swirls, SU wide Peppermint Ribbon. Glue dots, liquid glue, and Sugar Coating Glitter in white for all the Santa tassels on the Kitty and the Sentiment. SU Scallop Edge Punch
........

I love all the glittery tassels on each letter such a cute design idea of Melissa over at Pink Cat Studio! I stamped the Sentiment in Staz On Black ink, and then hap hazzardly drew on the Real Red lines on the tassels to define the glittered tassels!

......

Here is that sweet cool Kitty! She is colored in Basic Black, the Package is colored in Old Olive and Ruby Red. Tassels and hat are colored in Real Red with white sugar coating glitter added inside each tassel. I added the Kitty to the center of the gathered bow with Glue Dots.

.......

Well this was a fun card to make, now I have to go finish the other card I am working on! I can not share it yet as it is a project for a DT application. I am sure you can guess for which company! he he he. My favorite one of course I think this post explains that for you!!!!

.......

I Hope you are having a Stampendous Day!!!!

Sledding in the Hills with Lily and Billy

Lily and Billy Snowy Fun!!!

Finally a new Card!
.....
I got almost two done today, but I am going to go ahead and post this one now and a different one tomorrow.
.......
This going on two long trips in one week is going to put a crimp in my creating! I took the day off laundry today, but that means tomorrow I need to unpack from this weekends trip, do laundry and then re-pack for the Thanksgiving trip to Colorado!
.......
I got my new Pink Cat Studio stamps today. I got the newest Lily and Billy stamps, and some of the Pink Cat Kitty stamps. I used both sets Lily and Billy on this card and then tomorrow's card has the Kitty!
......
I chose to use the stamp of Lily and Billy sledding down the hills in the snow. I also participated in our first Challenge on Paper Craft Planet for the Pink Cat Studio & Lily and Billy lovers group.
The challenge was issued by Pink Cat DT and also Paper Craft Planet DT girl Tammy Hershberger. We were to use:
1 of a ribbon
2 of a background
3 of another item.
I used 1 of the sheer pink ribbon behind the Medallion
I used 2 Backgrounds. The snow with swirled cuttlebug embossing on it, 2 I made my own snowflakes with glue and blue glitter. I hope they do not look to gaudy! I was trying to create a unique look!
I used 3 of the trees made with the scallop circle punch and added snow on to the ends with white ink.
.......
Here is the full card. I added some Dazzling Diamonds to the embossed swirled snow and I distressed the torn edges of the snow hills with Baja Breeze ink.
.......
Card Recipe:
Stamps: Lily and Billy Winter Stamps from Pink Cat Studio (new release)
Ink: Baja Breeze, SU Markers in Basic Black, Regal Rose, Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, Brocade Blue, Certainly Celery, Creamy Caramel, Yo Yo Yellow, Summer Sun, Tempting Turquoise, Apricot Appeal, and Blush Blossom. I also used Staz On in black, and a Silver Gel pen (on the sled)
Paper: SU Confetti White, Whisper White, Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky
Accessories: Sugar Coating glitters by Doodle Bug in White and Turquoise, Scallop Circle Punch, Swirled Cuttle Bug Embossing Template, UID Pink Sheer Ribbon, Craft and Rubber Scissors, liquid glue. Silver Gel Pen, Stampin Dimensionals.
.......
Here you can sort of see the glitter I added to the white fur on all of Lilly's trim on her coat. It is super cute, and then I took a Marker and lightly added color to the edges of the trim on her coat. The colors are not quite as vibrant as in real life here. You can also see the glitter in the snow if you look close enough. I did that just here and there in no particular pattern. You can see my free hand snow flakes drawn with a glue pen and glitter. I guess this card has a lot of bling and shimmer! To bad that shimmer does not show up well on photographs!!!!
.......
Here is the Tree. I just love these Scallop Circle Punches. I figured out if you cut them in the center in half, and then cut the triangles on the 2 scallop mark on one, and on the 3 scallop mark on the second one you end up with great shapes and you get the 5 scallops, 4 scallops, 3 scallops, and 2 scallops you need for the tree.
.......
.......
Well I guess that is it for tonight I will be back tomorrow to add my Kitty Card!!!
I hope you enjoy the card let me know what you think. If you scroll down a few posts you will see where I got the inspiration for this card!!!
.......
Have a Stampendous Day!!!

Back into the swing of things

Hi All,
We are back from our trip and I am going to make at least 2 cards today! That is all there is to it. I can not get started on them for a couple of hours because today is Miss Willow's (my sweet 4 year old daughter's) Thanksgiving Feast at Pre-School.
.......
That is in about an hour and I can not wait to go because this morning when I dropped her off they were setting up and I can not tell you how adorable all the tiny little tables with the tiny little chairs and table cloths and all the little place settings looked!
.......
I just wish I could keep them small forever! I know the day will come when I have teenagers, but I can not quite imagine those years yet! We still want one more baby so I have lots of years before they are all grown and gone, but I have learned with Piper my oldest (6 1/2 yrs) how fast it all goes!
.......
So this post is to share a few honors I have been given from my wonderful blogging friends!
.......
First one is from Paula who gave me this award over a week ago, but my week was so crazy I never had time to play. It is the book worm award. You are supposed to get the book closest to you and open to page 56 and write a few sentences from that page. Well as I am at my computer and the nearest book is my trusty Stampin Up Catalog I will just open that up and tell you what stamp sets and samples are on that page......
......
Ah it is my good friend Emily's long time wished for set Always. This set has a big bird with flowers on it's body and a huge Heart with swirls and flowers in it, and my favorite new flower that we have a die cut for in the Big Shot dies, and it has 3 sentiments plus 5 other cute stamps in it. It is a set of 11. Now I want it too after describing it! The sample for it is in Bashful Blue with a brown sewn ribbon on the page and a green square in Certainly Celery with the bird stamped in brown on white paper, on top of that huge pretty heart stamped in brown on Pink Pirouette paper. It has a wonderful silver metal flower with a blue paper center and a Blue bow on it too.
.......
The other set is called Take Three. It is a set of 6 with three different pictures of things and a sentiment below it like 3 different and cute butterflies that says Best-Wishes below, and Three very sweet Christmas Ornaments that says Happy - Holiday's below. The samples are in the same colors as the Always card, but they have a creative diaper pen that takes up the whole card, and a sweet Best Wishes card too. Here is the Award:
If you are reading this post consider your self tagged with the Book worm Award. What you are supposed to do it put the picture on your blog with a link back to the blog you got the award from, and then post what is on page 56 of the book you have closest to you. I think it says if you are reading from a real book to post the first 3 sentences of the 2nd paragraph on page 56 of that book. This could be fun to see what people come up with!!! If you play along leave me a comment so I can see your Book Worm posts!!! In case my link does not work on the picture I got this award from my "Adoptive Mom" Paula. Paula was my Boyfriend of 8 years Justin's mom. She has remained an active part of my life and my kids call her Granny Paula they do not know she is not their biological Grandma and they love her dearly.
.......
Now for the 2nd award. I saw it today when I hopped over to my one of my very favorite blogs Stamp Happy by Jami Bova. I was so touched that she wanted to give me this award! I love Jami's blog and am glad to have her as a friend now too! Thank You Jami you made my day once again! :-) I found Jami's blog as a brand new blogger. She had left this very sweet comment on one of my cards on SCS, and then I went and checked out her gallery. It was amazing! She had just done the Saturday Inspiration challenge and it was a bunch of Plates and she had actually made note cards that looked exactly like those plates by just stamping, drawing and punching. I was amazed by her work that day and am more amazed by her work every day more and more. You would think by now everyday would not be a wow that is amazing day, but Jami is just that talented that every day you can find something new to amaze you!!!!
I did not realize until last week that Jami's blog was really pretty new at that time I figured she had been at it forever, she had so many wonderful comments on each post, but I went back thru her archives last week, and found out it was just a couple of months older than my blog! That is part of what makes Jami's blog so amazing she is still pretty new at it and yet does wonderful things you would think she had been at it for years and years! Jami and her family are in Korea right now as her husband is stationed in the Military there. Jami is so positive and so sweet, I just take so much away from her blog. My attitude is always smiles and happy when I leave there (maybe that is why it is called Stamp Happy!) Jami is super talented so you have to hop on over to see her stuff it you have never been there! She designs for one of my new favorite companies Our Daily Bread Designs. I love their stamps and I love what she does with them too!
.......
Well I have to leave now for a while but I will be back later today with a Stampation Project, and with the 6 lovely bloggers I am going to tag with this award!!!
......
I hope you are having a Stampendous Day!!!

Christmas Cards?? What Christmas Cards?? - My style of Christmas Cards!!

Hi Again,
.......
Do not forget to look 1 post down and read about my last 36 hours and the whirl wind of it all!!! You'll understand where I have been at! :-)
......
Since I am going to be gone for a couple of days and do not have the time to schedule any posts I wanted to share with you our Christmas Cards for the last 4 years.
.......
No I am a 1st before stamping, and scrap booking, a Photographer at Heart. I have the Professional Camera, all the accessories, several photography classes under my belt and I take a million pictures, I have done a few weddings, a few family pictures, but mostly I just take a ton of pictures of my kids and our activities. I am always the one behind the camera hardly ever the one in front of it! While getting ready for things lately I have noticed the last couple of months most of my pictures are of cards and projects not my kids. Bad Mommy/Photographer! I started out in this stamping world as a Scrap Booker I did not make cards. So the first two years of these cards showcase the Photographer in me!
........
Now the next 2 years of Cards should be a wonderful Home made Christmas Card. Right I mean I am a Stampin Up Demo and I spend a lot of time helping/teaching others how to make beautiful Christmas Cards right???
.......
Well not so much because after I do all my Christmas Card help for everyone else I am timed out! Last year I had great intentions, and had a great start on my cards then we had a horrible Ice Storm and lost power to our home. Since we live on the outside edge of town (yet very much close to things) we have a well not city water. We could hook up, but it is much cheaper than being on city so we stay on the well all the houses around us also mostly use wells. Well anyway when you loose power you loose all your water too when you are running off a well, no toilets to flush, no running water period! The house got colder and colder and we had a 5 month old so we finally had to leave and stayed a couple of different places. The first was dear friends/family that also had no power but had a fire place. After a few days of still being cold and having to wake up every 20 min to put fire wood in the fire place we took up an offer to stay in one of my husbands co - workers apartments while he was out of town for the weekend. Our house was without power for 8 days and that was without a doubt other than when my Dad died the most stressful situation I have been thru. I will never forget it! We were litterally homeless with 3 small kids for about a week, it was horrible, but God got us thru it safe and sound!!!! All our food went bad, among many other things, so the Christmas Cards did not happen last year either.
........
Anyway to make a very long story shorter the past four years I have designed a Photo Christmas Card show casing our family and the kids. I will share the cards with you here now. The first year I actually put it all together on paper that was Christmas 2004. Willow was 6 months old. Then the next year I had discovered Photo shop and all the great things I could do with it! So from there on out I created our Christmas card with mostly Pictures I have taken in Photo shop. It is like Scrap booking our Christmas card every year!!!!
.......
Christmas Cards 2004 - 2007
.......

Christmas Card 2004 - Piper 2 1/2, Willow 6 months old at Christmas. Pictures taken when Willow was 3 and 4 months Piper 2 1/2 yrs old.

.......

All of the Christmas Cards were about 5 x 7 except for the Wheat One it was 4 x 6

Christmas Card 2005. Piper was 3 1/2 and Willow was 1 1/2. I think this will always be one of my favorite cards!!!!

Christmas Card 2006, Piper was 4 1/2 Willow was 2 1/2. The Pictures were taken back in June of that year when Willow had just turned 2 and Piper was 4. Since My husband grew up on a Kansas Farm, and he works with over 500 Kansas Farmers. During Wheat Harvest which last up to a month for him because he is "In Wheat Harvest" just as long as 500 farmers are "In Harvest" anyway during Wheat Harvest he works like totally insane gone 20 hours a day for days at a time sometimes I thought it was only appropriate to get Family Pictures in the Wheat fields right before Wheat Harvest! He loves Harvest. Me and the kids??? - not so much!!!!

I took all the pictures except me with the girls. The middle family picture I had my camera set up on a tri-pod and timed the picture as I ran into place!! The one of Willow alone bottom right is one of my all time favorite pictures of Willow!

The above picture I designed last year for my Mother in Law and Father in Law to send out. Tucker is the smallest and Piper is the oldest from 5 months to 5 years. Willow is the 2nd oldest so they had 8 grand kids 5 and under at the beginning of this year, and 7 of them were 3 and under!!!! My 3 are 2 blond girls and baby blond boy. I designed another one of these type of cards for another friend and her family last year too.

Christmas Card 2008. The kids baby pictures all look so much alike I wanted to showcase that. I did not pick some of the pictures where they look the most alike because I choose one of their Professional pictures for each of the Baby Pictures. This card had pictures from the last 5 years on it. Piper was 5 1/2 yrs. Willow was 3 1/2 years old, and Tucker was 5 months old at Christmas.

.......

So there you have my brand of Home Made Christmas Card. Now this year I think I am going to have real cards and I am not sure what I will do for my Photo Card???? I do not know if I have time to do both????? I hope you enjoy them let me know what you think.

Well I am exhausted and I need to get the last load of laundry into the dryer and get to bed so we can leave tomorrow morning. I am looking forward to getting Tucker back at the farm tomorrow! It sounds like he has had fun playing with his boy cousins, he gets excited when a boy is around, I think all the girls at our house all the time just do not do it 100% of the time! I miss my baby boy though!!!

I am finally getting a picture of the growing blog candy pile that you can get a chance at winning or several chances at winning depending on what part of the blog candy challenge you choose to play in!

Go down a few posts and read all the ways you can earn this blog candy, and just why I am giving it away!

The Cuttle Bug Embossing Folders are:
Textile, Birds and Swirls, and the die is Cake. The 4 large pieces of DSP are double sided you get one of each but I showed what all 4 sides look like, the small 6 x 6 pack has 6 colors of DSP in it I think you get 6 pieces of each style. You get to pick one of the SU sets in the above picture.

I am still Alive!!!! Where I have been???? A 36 hour whirl wind!!!!!

Hi Everyone,
.......
In case you have been wondering, I have not fallen off the face of the earth, everything is O.K., I am sorry I have not posted any cool eye candy for you the last 3 days! I have missed it soooooo much! I really have!!!
.......
So here is what has happened in my life. My good friend/next door neighbor/SU down line Tasha who is mildly insane!!!!!!!!!!!!! (LOL) read in the paper on Wednesday afternoon at 3pm that there was a craft show at the Hospital I work at (when I work which is not often anymore) (let me clairfy that, I work hard, really hard every day with 3 full time little jobs at home, but just not at the hospital much anymore, Marvin works a lot of hours and one of us needs to be home so I am glad I get to do that!!!). She thought it would be great exposure for us to be there and wanted me to call and get us a spot if we still could. It was free to be in the show if you were an employee or employee family member. Plus we had the opportunity to meet lots of new stampers and people to share our stamping/scrapbooking/ crafting love with!!!!
.......
So this was Wednesday afternoon at around 4pm when she called me. I thought I can not do this I have to be ready to go out of town on Saturday morning, but I knew she was right, so I reluctantly called secretly hoping that they would say it was to late to sign up (:-) )
.......
What did they say when I called???? Oh sure we can fit you in you have to be here at 6:30am to set up and the craft fair starts at 8am to 4pm.
My jaw dropping to the floor at that point because not only was that about 36 hours away we had nothing done to sell at this craft fair!
.......
I took the spot anyway and we diligently worked starting at 9pm Wednesday night after our kids went to bed. We worked about 3 1/2 hours that night and then both of us worked as much as we could during the day on Thursday amongst helping at school, Dr's appointments, city council meetings ect... ect.... I also frantically called my sister in law who very recently moved about an hour away. (they were 5 hours away) and asked her to please keep my 1 year old Thursday night and all day Friday. I normally have no one to watch him as we are 7 and 3 hours away from both sides of our families. I knew there was no way he could make it at a craft fair from 6:30am to 5pm (Like I said before he is in that I have to get into everything I see stage!!!! :-) . So with everything else on Thursday I packed my baby up and took him to the half way point and handed him off to my sister in law. Another good friend offered to take Willow my 4 year old after pre-school so we did not have to have her with us all day there (she would have been pretty board).
......
Thursday night we got together and worked from 9pm to 1:20am and then I went home. Tasha stayed up until 4:30am finishing up stuff like printing up our contact info, Price sheets, labels ect..... Then at 5:45am I got up and packed and got ready really quick and we left our houses about 6:30am to go there. We figured out tonight between both of us two people in two nights we got 13 hours sleep total!
.....
In our 36 hours (keep in mind that 36 hours also included taking care of our 6 kids (3 each) and keeping our families going. We got about 120 involved and cute cards done, 100 specialized designer gift tags designed, stamped, and cut out, lots of home made ornaments, mini pizza boxes all decorated. Several kits to make ornaments, and boxes, and peppermint patties decorated to put in the boxes, A beautifully framed 16 x 8 embossed and die cut Christmas saying and other odds and ends of projects to sell.
.......
Now it is all over, and it is 6pm here and I have to have the family ready to head out tomorrow morning, so I will try to get some pictures on here later, but if not I will be back on Sunday for some new eye candy. I promise next week minus the thanksgiving weekend trip to Colorado I will start having some daily projects and tutorials ready for you again!!!!!! I have a ton of laundry, packing, cleaning, and odds and ends to do before we leave tomorrow morning. Tasha has graciously offered to come over and help me get my laundry sprayed and sorted and then take on of my 3 loads I have to get done back next door to her house and do that load while I do the other two here, that will help a ton!!!!
.....
I have enjoyed all your sweet and lovely, kind comments and look forward to getting back to sharing with you projects every day next week!!!!!!
.......
Thank you for your patience!!!
......
Have a Stampendous Weekend!!!! I miss you and blogging! It has become a daily escape and relaxer for me, and I have truly enjoyed meeting so many great new Stamping/blogging friends!!!

Thank You for Our Freedom! - A Lily and Billy in Camouflage Card

Lily and Billy as Soldiers!
.......
........
So I can not sleep for some reason tonight, so I decided to get up and finish a card I worked on most of the day yesterday. It was most of the day because I would work on it for a minute here and there and then have to put it down while I did something with the kids. I never really got much time to actually work on it while they were awake! Hubby is out of town for 3 days and I had Piper home sick from first grade, and Willow home sick from Pre-School, and Tucker is just a full time job in himself trying to keep him out of everything! He is 16 months old and into everything!!!!!
.......
I have met two really special friends thru Stamping and blogging. I have had the wonderful opportunity to communicate with them thru blog comments and e-mail and they are both just really great gals! I made this card for Jami (sgt stamper), but I want to make another one for Kristin too. Jami and her family are living over in Korea right now and her husband is a Soldier there. Jami used to be a soldier herself. Jami brightens my day every day with the sweet comments she leaves on every post I do. She is the only person until lately that actually came to my blog on a daily basis, and left comments other than my friends and family. I can not tell you how much that means to me!!!!! Kristin is in the Air Force and stationed in Alexandria VA. right now. We lived there twice when my Dad worked at the Pentagon. Two years ago when Marvin and I went to D.C. for a week for business we went to Alexandria and visited the houses I lived in as a child. I learned how to ride a bike there one Christmas morning! I show cased one of Kristin's cards in a post once before on here.
.......
Last week when I was at Hobby Lobby I found some really cool Camouflage ribbon and I immediately thought of Jami and had to get it for her. To go with it I found this ribbon in Camo colors but with wonderful cream and black swirls thru it. Then in the wedding section I actually found some Army Green Organza ribbon. Last night I had a brainstorm to make my Lily and Billy Pink Cat Studio stamps and make them into Soldiers so I could send Jami a card along with her ribbon! I think they looked so cute as Soldiers!
.......
I was also inspired to make this card because I have been thinking about my Dad a lot lately. He died when I was 13, but he was a Soldier for 16 years, and then worked as a Civilian and
Anti-Terrorist for the Government for the rest of his life. So I grew up as an Army Brat, and moved 31 times by the time I was 13! We were living in Hawaii and he was working for the Navy when he died. I recently received all the letters he wrote home from the time he joined the Military when he was barely 18 yrs old until the end of Vietnam. When I first got the letters I could not open them and now I am slowly reading thru them. So anyway this card was also inspired from him!
.......
I started out by researching Camouflage on the Internet to figure out how to color it. I decided on the new ACU colors that are like Basic Gray, Going Gray, and Sahara Sand. Then when I got the ribbon out I remembered it was more the old Brown, Green, Tan, and Black Cammo colors and I decided to go back to the old Cammo colors for the card. I found these pictures for my cammo inspiration.
.......
......
So the pictures above were the inspiration I found to make my own cammo pattern, and here is what I came up with.
.......
I used Close to Co Co for my background, and then took Chocolate Chip, and Always Artichoke for the Camouflage Spots I drew and then cut out. I knew I was going to mount this piece onto Kiwi Kiss Card stock when I was done creating the camouflage. So above is Lily on Always Artichoke and I used the ribbon with the pretty swirls all thru it on the camo colors and I glued that onto a strip of the Army Green Organza ribbon. For Lily's pants and boots I used the bottom half of the Astronaut outfit stamp from Lily and Billy Accessories stamps, for her jacket I used the Painters Shirt from the Accessories set. For Billy I just kept the shirt he has on in his stamp, and then added the astronaut pants and boots.
To the side you can see my hand written sentiment. I punched out two of the SU Key Tag punches because they look like dog tags and I punched a Small hole in them with my Crop-a-Dile and then hung them from the top of the card with twine. I was wishing I had some silver twine to match a dog tag necklace, but the twine worked O.K. I think????
.......
The Sentiment says Thank You for Our Freedom and for your Service, Dedication, and Sacrifice!
.......
Here is the final card. I just love that Satin Camo ribbon it is sooooo soft and thick and double sided too! ....... I was excited how the card turned out you have to let me know what you think!!!!!!
........
So now I am tired and better try to get a few hours of sleep before the day starts again!!!
.......
I hope you have a Stampendous Day!
